How to plan and prepare Nextdoor posts with Sheevook

A free Business Post shown to neighbors around your business, as a title and a description. Neighborly and local, no hard sell; you post it by hand. Sheevook turns one approved idea into a Nextdoor-native post that follows its rules, schedules it and measures what it drove.

Sheevook prepares your Nextdoor content and plans the post. Auto-publishing is not live, so you post the draft yourself.

Is Nextdoor worth your time?

Worth it for a business that serves a few neighborhoods in person: home services, repairs, lessons, food, shops. A free Business Post puts you in front of the streets you serve. For software sold nationally it is the wrong place.

Nextdoor at a glance

Our length cap (no published limit)
1,500 (sweet spot 150-600)
Hashtags
None. They read as spam here
Best times
No published best time. Post when you can answer a neighbor's message the same day.
Links
Links stay clean in the copy. Tracking is recorded separately, so the post reads like a person wrote it and the click is still attributed.

A Business Post reaches the neighborhoods you choose, not a follower list

Nextdoor's own business page describes a Business Post as a post in the neighborhood newsfeed, made from the Content tab of your Business Page with a title and a detailed description. You choose the audience by setting a radius around the business, or by picking neighborhoods one by one.

Nextdoor does not publish how it orders Business Posts, so no ranking rule is claimed here. What is documented is the shape: a title, a description, a preview before you post, and an audience set by place. That rewards a title that names the service and the area, and a description a neighbor can read in half a minute.

Local Deals and Nextdoor Ads are separate products, and Ads Manager is the paid one. Sheevook drafts the free Business Post only. It does not post for you: at the time you chose it hands you the title and description, and you paste them into Nextdoor.

What gets a Nextdoor post buried

  • Writing an ad instead of an introduction

A neighborhood feed is read by people who live near you. A hard sell with stacked offers reads as an ad and gets scrolled past; say what you do, where, and how to reach you.

  • Claiming what you cannot back up

A price, license, review count or guarantee that your own records do not state is the fastest way to lose a neighbor's trust. Sheevook writes only from what you have recorded.

  • Picking the wrong audience radius

The audience is set by place. A radius wider than the area you actually serve brings replies you cannot take, and one that leaves out your own neighborhood means you will not see the post from your member account.

  • Offering something for a review

Rewarding a review is prohibited by the FTC Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule. A thank-you for a job is fine; a discount in exchange for a review is not.

Publish to Nextdoor with Sheevook

  1. 1

    Get your Nextdoor account ready

Claim your Business Page: Create or claim a free Business Page on Nextdoor so the business can post as itself. Open the Content tab: Choose Create Post, enter a title and a description, and pick the neighborhoods by radius around the business.

  2. 2

Know why Nextdoor is posted by hand

Nextdoor Business Posts are created by hand from your Business Page. Draft the post here, then paste the title and description into Nextdoor yourself.

  3. 3

Write once, let Sheevook tailor it

Write your post once. Sheevook re-authors it for Nextdoor inside Sheevook's own 1,500-character cap, shows what changed, and blocks a near-copy of another platform's version before it schedules. The voice it writes in: Neighborly, specific, and local. Write the way a business owner would introduce themselves at a block party: who you are, what you do on their street, how to reach you.

  4. 4

Copy it and post it yourself

Approve the draft, use Copy for manual post, and paste it into Nextdoor. Nothing goes out until you post it.

  5. 5

    See what actually worked

Nextdoor reports nothing back, so there is no engagement to read. Where the post carries your tracked link, its clicks and conversions are still tied to it. Results rank on outcomes, not reach.

What wins on Nextdoor

  • Name the neighborhood or town the way people there say it
  • Say what you do and what you do not do
  • Offer one clear next step
  • Keep it to what the source states: services, areas, hours

Nextdoor questions

Can Sheevook post to Nextdoor?
No. Nextdoor Business Posts are created from your Business Page, and Sheevook has no way to post for you. It writes the title and description, and you post them yourself.
Is a Nextdoor Business Post free?
Nextdoor's business page describes Business Posts as free. Local Deals and Nextdoor Ads are separate products that Sheevook does not draft.
How long can a Nextdoor Business Post be?
Nextdoor's own pages that we could read do not state a character limit, so Sheevook keeps posts short and uses its own conservative guard. Check the post form's counter before you paste.
