How to plan and prepare WhatsApp posts with Sheevook
One-way Channel updates to people who chose to follow you. A chat list, not a feed: no ranking, and you post by hand. Sheevook turns one approved idea into a WhatsApp-native post - grounded in the platform's real rules, not a generic cross-post - then schedules it and measures what it drove.
Sheevook helps you prepare WhatsApp content and plan the post; auto-publishing for WhatsApp is not live, so you post the prepared draft yourself.
Is WhatsApp worth your time?
Worth it if your customers already keep WhatsApp open all day and would choose to follow your business there. A Channel is a broadcast to people who opted in, so it keeps an audience you have rather than finding you a new one.
WhatsApp at a glance
- Character limit
- 4,096 (sweet spot 150-700)
- Hashtags
- None: there is no tag search here, so a hashtag does nothing
- Best times
- No algorithmic optimum: updates arrive in the order you post them. Post when your followers are awake.
- Links
- Links stay clean in the copy. The tracking is recorded on our side instead of hanging off the end of your URL, so the post reads like a person wrote it and the click is still attributed.
A Channel update has no algorithm between you and the follower
WhatsApp describes Channels as a one-way broadcast tool: admins send text, photos, videos, stickers and polls, and followers read them. There is no ranking score and no algorithm deciding who sees an update, so the people who follow your Channel are your reach, and nothing you write changes that number on the day.
Updates are kept for up to thirty days. That makes a Channel a good place for news and a poor place for anything you want found later: a price list, a how-to, or an announcement people will look for next quarter belongs on your own site, with the Channel update pointing to it.
WhatsApp's own business messaging does not replace this. Marketing template messages have not been delivered to US phone numbers since April 2025, and any marketing message needs opt-in that names your business. For a US audience, a Channel update that people chose to follow is the organic route that remains.
What gets a WhatsApp post buried
Opening with a greeting
The first line is what shows in the chat list, next to the follower's personal conversations. Spending it on a hello means the update itself never gets read.
Treating a Channel follow as consent to message
Following a Channel is not opt-in to marketing messages. WhatsApp requires opt-in that names your business before you send one, and messaging without it puts the number at risk.
Posting several times a day
Every update competes with someone's family and friends for attention. A follower who feels crowded mutes the Channel, and a mute looks exactly like silence from your side.
Using a Channel as an archive
Updates are kept for up to thirty days. Anything a customer will need after that has to live on your site, or it is simply gone.
Publishing to WhatsApp with Sheevook, step by step
- 1
Get your WhatsApp account ready
Use the WhatsApp Business app: Set up your business profile with your name, hours, and website so followers can tell the Channel is really yours. Create a Channel: Open the Updates tab and create a Channel for the business. It is a one-way broadcast: you post, followers read. Share the Channel link: Followers only arrive through links you place: your site, your receipts, your other profiles.
- 2
Know why WhatsApp is posted by hand
WhatsApp offers no official way for a tool to post to a Channel or a Status: its business platform sends messages, not Channel updates. Draft and preview here, then post the update yourself in WhatsApp.
- 3
Write once, let Sheevook tailor it
Write your post once. Sheevook re-authors it natively for WhatsApp, inside the 4,096-character limit, with a per-platform diff showing exactly what changed, and it blocks a near-copy of another platform's version before it schedules. The voice it writes in: Plain and direct, written for a phone. Announcement-friendly, never salesy.
- 4
Copy it and post it yourself
Approve the draft, then use Copy for manual post and paste it into WhatsApp. Sheevook does not publish to WhatsApp, so nothing goes out until you post it.
- 5
See what actually worked
WhatsApp reports nothing back to Sheevook, so there is no engagement to read. Where the post carries your tracked link, the clicks and conversions it drove are still tied to it. Results rank on outcomes, never on vanity reach.
What wins on WhatsApp
- Write the first line as if it is the only line anyone reads
- Keep each update to one idea a follower would forward to a friend
- Put the link on its own line so the preview renders
- Use WhatsApp's own formatting sparingly when you paste the update in
WhatsApp questions people actually ask
- Can Sheevook post to WhatsApp?
- No. WhatsApp offers no official way for a tool to post to a Channel or a Status, so there is no honest connection to offer. Sheevook writes and previews the update, and you post it yourself in WhatsApp.
- Do hashtags do anything on WhatsApp?
- No. WhatsApp has no tag search and no tag pages, so a hashtag in a Channel update is just extra characters. Sheevook leaves them out of WhatsApp drafts.
- Why not just send customers a WhatsApp marketing message?
- In the US you cannot: marketing template messages to US numbers have been paused since April 2025. Elsewhere they need opt-in that names your business, which a Channel follow does not give you.
